Early Van Halen TV Appearance Posted Online

(hennemusic) Video of a June, 1978 Japanese TV appearance by Van Halen has surfaced. In the country to promote the release of their self-titled debut album, the footage features the band lip-syncing to their cover of The Kinks' classic, "You Really Got Me," followed a by a brief interview.

"I think that Van Halen is the future of rock and roll for the United States, and for the world!," said David Lee Roth when asked to comment on the state of rock. "My message to the people of Japan is�this is the 1980s � everybody up for the kickoff and fasten your seat belts!"

Van Halen played 8 shows in 11 days in the country before returning to North America for a full schedule of summer concert dates. You can watch the classic TV appearance here.
