Layne Staley's Mother Vs Alice in Chains

(hennemusic) Alice In Chains are reportedly being sued by the mother of their late singer, Layne Staley, over claims the band cut her out of royalties owed on their hits.

Staley died in 2002 and now his mother, Nancy McCallum, has filed the suit which claims that the surviving members of the group owe her 16% of the band's income, which is half of the money due Staley, according to Seattlepi.

The band's attorneys claim that McCallum illegally tried to trademark the band's name and that she has already received far more money from the band than she is due.

The band says that Staley's heirs will be able to collect royalties on songs he wrote or co-wrote. more on this story
