Singled Out: Tesseract

Today Amos Williams from Tesseract tells us about the song "Singularity" from their brand new album "Altered State," which was released today (May 28th). Here is the story:

This track is actually a small clip from a larger song of the same name, which itself is one movement of a larger track, called Of Energy. Which itself too, is one movement of four that span the 51 minutes of our new album: Altered State.

Each of these larger four movements has a title that covers the broad topic of the songs contained within them. All however deal with change. So, in this instance Of Energy looks at the development of life on a grand scale, from start to finish. And Singularity looks at the creation of something new, as the dust settles after a tumultuous event.

This works on two levels. Firstly, our common muse: which is popular science and cosmology. TesseracT takes great interest in all things geeky, and even though we may not yet fully understand it, we still love to dip our art into these topics just to see where it leads us.

Secondly, as a band we've been through a load of changes, both behind the scenes and publicly. The kind of changes that would kill most bands instantly, I feel. But, fortunately the band and our fan base are strong enough to weather the storm and accept the new landscapes that it created. The topics in Singularity, lyrically and musically cover these changes, looking at the fear of change, both before and after it has happened.

Hearing is believing. Now that you know the story behind the song, listen for yourself and stream the full album right here!
