(Gibson) Jack White and his record label, Third Man Records, are doing something to help the homeless in Nashville, Tenn. White is giving music lovers the opportunity to trade turkeys, or food items that equal the cost of a turkey, for a free seven-inch vinyl single.

The event is called the Great Third Man Turkey Drive, and proceeds will go towards the Nashville Rescue Mission, a non-profit organization that offers assistance to the homeless in Nashville. Fans can participate now through Nov. 26, and the former White Stripes frontman hopes the drive will score 1,000 turkeys for the Nashville Rescue Mission's annual Thanksgiving dinner.

Say you want to donate but can't get to the shop to give a turkey? No worriesparticipants may donate a collection of canned goods and clothing items that total $25 to get the free album.

The person who provides the most turkeys will receive a copy of White's vinyl Triple Decker Record, which includes the Dead Weather's "Blue Blood Blues" among other treasures. more on this story
