(Gibson) Taylor Swift had a good day Sunday. The country star picked up the Artist of the Year award at the 2013 American Music Awards. Even though she didn't perform, Swift made her presence known throughout the night, picking up awards for Favorite Country Album with last year's Red as well as Favorite Female Country Artist.

Since the release of Red Swift's popularity has gone through the roof. The album has sold almost four million copies in the US alone, spawning her first Billboard Hot 100 number one single "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together" and the hugely popular "I Knew You Were Trouble." In its first week, Red sold 1.208 million copies, making it the highest weekly sales number in a decade, and earning Swift the distinction of being the first female artist to sell over a million copies in an album's first week of release twice, since SoundScan began tracking sales figures in 1991.

During the sold-out Red tour in the US, Swift would use a custom made Gibson Les Paul on stage when it was time to rock out. The red-bodied instrument, which lacks a pick-guard, is adorned with red crystals in various heart-shaped patterns, as well as black volume and tone controls. more on this story
