Childish Gambino Explains Why He's Not Really A Rapper (Recap)

On Thursday Childish Gambino Explains Why He's Not Really A Rapper was a top story. Here is the recap: (Radio.com) Donald Glover, aka Childish Gambino, got comfy on Arsenio Hall's couch Tuesday night (Nov. 12) to talk about why he's not really a rapper, why he doesn't need a boss and what he really meant when he said he didn't want to be Tyrese.

Like Tyler, the Creator before him, he treated Arsenio's studio like his personal living room, sitting cross-legged throughout their chat, which had him explaining why he really left Community. "I just wanted to do something else, that was it," he said. "There's really not much more to it I just wanted to do other stuff."

It wasn't to pursue his rap career full time because as Glover explained, "I don't consider myself a rapper. I don't think I'm a rapper. I can rap, but I don't think I'm a rapper. I want to do other stuff."

He even joked, "Rappers don't want to be rappersIt's true. I don't think any rapper wants to be just a rapper." Glover also spoke out about those Instagram confessions saying that he didn't think they'd be a big deal, but that he stands behind what he wrote, specifically about caring what people think. "It's always important to care what other people think because that's what connects us," he explained. "I want to do the best thing I can and sometimes, you know, I'm insecure, I feel weird about a bunch of stuffbut I wish I didn't feel that way so much so it didn't stop me from doing what I really love to be doing because everybody's afraid, so afraid, of offending or being misunderstood and that's going to happen."
