Michael Jackson Wrongful Death Case Verdict Reached
. The decision came after five months of testimony and three days of deliberations, when the jury was asked to decide if AEG was at all culpable for Jackson's death from an overdose of the hospital anesthetic Propofol in 2009. According to the L.A. Times, while the jury came to the conclusion that AEG Live did hire Dr. Conrad Murray, who administered what would be the lethal dose of Propofol to Jackson, they also decided that Murray was not unfit to fulfill the role as Jackson's doctor, which freed the concert promoter from any liability in the singer's tragic passing. The lawsuit against AEG was filed by Jackson's mother, Katherine Jackson, and his three children, Prince Michael I, Prince Michael II, and Paris Jackson. The family was seeking $1.5 billion in the suit. Murray had been hired to supervise the pop star as he rehearsed for the ill-fated "This is It" concert extravaganza, which was slated for 50 sold-out shows in London with the possibility of a full world tour to follow. The suit claimed that AEG and Murray pushed Jackson beyond his physical limits, resulting in his untimely death. more on this story Radio.com is an official news provider for antiMusic.com.
