(Classic Rock) David Bowie is the subject of a bidding war over the chance of playing in London next year, according to a news report. The Mirror says promoters Live Nation have offered the icon a multi-million-pound package if he'll agree to perform at their Olympic Park venue.

Meanwhile, AEG are said to be preparing a counter-offer for Bowie to appear at a different venue possibly Hyde Park which is under their auspices.

Next year marks the 50th anniversary of his first single, Liza Jane, which was released under the name Davie Jones and the King Bees, when the future Ziggy Stardust was 17 years old.

Since launching surprise comeback track Where Are We Now? followed by new album The Next Day earlier this year, Bowie has been the subject of speculation regarding a tour. more on this story
