(The Blues) Award-winning young musician Lucy Zirins has reflected that she might never have decided to pursue her artistic ambitions if she hadn't sustained a leg injury. Before damaging her knee, the 21-year-old was more interested in becoming a full-time swimmer.

Zirins, who's previously been featured in The Blues Magazine, was named Best Young Artist at this year's British Blues Awards. She was also nominated for Album Of The Year and Female Vocalist Of The Year with her debut release Chasing Clocks.

She tells the Lancashire Telegraph: "I always wanted to compete in the Olympics. I was a member of a swimming club and I went to a few national squads but then I got injured."

Despite a flying start, Zirins doesn't think it'll be easy to forge a musical career. Read what she had to say about that here.
