Janelle Monae Covers David Bowie's 'Heroes'
. Her Bowie remake was in honor of Pepsi's global 2014 futbol campaign "Now Is What You Make It," celebrating the World Cup which is set to take place in Brazil from June 12 to July 13. The song, along with the singer herself, will appear in a 90-second clip where she'll be traveling around the streets of Rio singing the cover. The song is currently available to purchase on iTunes. In an interview with Billboard, Monae, who also models for CoverGirl, said that she doesn't like to just team up with any brand, she has to appreciate what they're doing. "I'm a big fan of Pepsi and the lineup from Beyonc to Michael [Jackson] to all the incredible artists, so just to be asked to stand alongside them is great," she said. "And I got a chance to do music that I wanted to do, so I get to keep my brand. And the brand I'm partnering with helps bring wings and legs and arms to my ideas. That's always inspiring to see your ideas soar and helping get them out into the world." Listen to her cover of "Heroes" here. Radio.com is an official news provider for antiMusic.com.
