Traffic's Dave Mason Releases First Track From New Album
. For the new album, Mason revisited some of his classic tracks and reinterprets them. The album will also feature some of Mason's most recent songs that he has performed live in recent years. Mason premiered the first track from the new album, "Dear Mr. Fantasy" last week here. He explained to USA Today the changes he made to the classic for the new versions, "It ["Dear Mr. Fantasy"] came about redoing the chords. I was doing some shows and I was trying to think of something to make it a little more interesting, so I just started playing around with it. I put it in a minor key instead of a major key, and I sort of developed it from there." He also discussed some of the other tracks on the album. He said, "There is a version of 'World in Changes' that is absolutely nothing like the original and there is a great live version that is absolutely beautiful of 'Sad and Deep as You.' "There are two or three songs that were on a CD called 26 Letters 12 Notes that I did seven years ago, a Robert Johnson song, 'Come On in My Kitchen' and a brand new song called 'That's Freedom.'"
