(Radio.com) Asher Roth is back with his sophomore album, RetroHash, which came out Tuesday, April 22. Much has changed for the rapper since his debut, 2009′s Asleep in the Bread Aisle, which included breakout hit "I Love College." For starters, he moved from his home in Pennsylvania to Los Angeles. Secondly, he chose to leave his label and become an independent artist, something that allows him to be completely hands on in every aspect of his career.

"The independent road is a little harder mainly just from a financial standpoint," he told Radio.com. "I don't think it's any different from a work load because you really get out of it what you put in. I'm just at a point now where I want to be productive, I want to be efficient, and I want to do the work."

For RetroHash, Roth enlisted his friends on several of the tracks. ZZ Ward, Curren$y, Coyle Girelli, Vic Mensa, Major Myjah and Chuck Inglish are featured on seven of the ten tracks on the album.

"Music for me is super communal. I really enjoy collaboration and working with other people," he said. "My goals are to make good music and put it out. I want to use the music and my listener's time wisely so we can progress." more on this story
