(Radio.com) Meek Mill is still in jail, for now. Following an appeal in which many expected the rapper to be released from custody, a judge in Philadelphia, Genece E. Brinkley, instead rejected the request for early parole stemming from an arrest for a probation violation, MTV reports. Mill has already served more than a month since being sentenced on July 11.

Meek Mill, real name Robert Williams, was originally arrested in 2009 on drug and weapons charges, and was said to be in violation of his probation by the D.A. for "[posing] on Instagram with a gun, test[ing] positive for drugs, set[ting] up out-of-town show dates when the court asked him not to, and [he] did not keep a direct line of communication with his parole officer." The sentence for this violation was originally 3-6 months.

The defense countered with "the gun in question was a prop for a video, the drugs were prescribed by a doctor and that Meek wasn't adequately informed by the court of the limitations for out-of-town bookings."

Still, the request was denied by the judge in front of a packed courtroom. More.
