(Radio.com) Kinks fans have hoped-for years-that the iconic British band would reunite. On Tuesday (Aug. 26), the UK music magazine MOJO may have prematurely caused some excitement among those fans, when they reported that a reunion is imminent, in their story titled "Kinks Reunion Confirmed For 2015 - With Or Without Dave Davies."

The magazine quotes the band's leader Ray Davies as saying of his bandmate and brother: "Dave's invited to the party, but if he doesn't want to do it, [the reunion] will happen anyway. He's very welcome to turn up if he wants. I'd much rather work with him than without him."

When asked if the Kinks would still be the Kinks without Dave, Ray is quoted as saying, "Yes, it would. I think it's all down to the music. If somebody can't or won't play, there are other players out there. Mick and I want to do it," referring to founding drummer Mick Avory.

However, now Ray Davies claims he never said any such thing. The Kinks' official Facebook page posted a message today that reads: "MOJO is wrong. There will be NO Kinks reunion without BOTH Ray and Dave Davies. Ray Davies claims to have never said this."
