(Radio.com) Before Jim Morrison had the world in the palm of his hands with his band, The Doors, he was simply a college student at Florida State University with a few tricks up his sleeve. Magic tricks to be exact.

In a four-minute clip, which aired earlier this week on PBS' Antiques Roadshow, Morrison's former college roommate, Ed Martin stops by to have Morrison's book, The History of Magic, appraised. The book was a Christmas present from the rocker in 1963.

"I was renting a room, this was in Tallahassee, Florida," Martin recalled of how he met Morrison. "[Morrison] lived there and we got to be friends. We'd walk to school."

While its condition makes the book only worth $100, Morrison's signature, which was inscribed within the book, helped instantly skyrocket the one of a kind gift's value to $10,000. more on this story
