Eminem has made music history, becoming the first artist to receive Diamond certification for two digital singles that have surpassed sales (and streams) of 10 million in the U.S.The rapper was given the second award certification by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) on Tuesday for his single "Not Afraid."
He had previously received a Diamond Award for the single "Love The Way You Lie" (featuring Rihanna), according to his label Aftermath Entertainment/Interscope Records.
The RIAA's Chairman & CEO Cary Sherman released these comments about Eminem's new award, "We are delighted to recognize Eminem as the first artist to earn two RIAA Digital Diamond Awards.
"This singular achievement - earning a Diamond Award on two separate digital songs - is unparalleled, and we congratulate him on forever etching a mark in Gold & Platinum Program history."
Eminem had previous received Diamond Awards for 10 Million plus sales for two of his albums: 2000's "The Marshall Mathers LP" and 2002's "The Eminem Show".
Fans in a handful of major North American cities will be able to catch Eminem live this summer when he launches The Monster Tour with Rhianna.
The tour will be kicking off with a two-night stand in Los Angeles on August 7th and 8th and will include two shows in Detroit on August 16th and 17th and will conclude with two shows in New York on August 22nd and 23rd.
