Arctic Monkeys Release 'Snap Out of It' Video

(Radio.com) With their latest videos, the Arctic Monkeys are leaning in to their growing popularity in Hispanic culture. An army of Latino mods sprung up out of the moment when Morrissey switched to a more rockabilly look, and now that Monkeys singer Alex Turner has adapted his own rockabilly stage persona, his Latin heartthrob/machismo idolation status is through the roof. And it's very interesting to see the band acknowledge it with a music video.

In the video for "Snap Out of It," a woman, played by Mexican telenovela (and recently film) star Stephanie Sigman, is having a hard time getting over Turner. She sits in her beautiful, palatial home, watching footage from the studio. It seems like it will be one those "the band didn't have time so we worked in some b-roll" videos that is, until around two minutes into the action.

Suddenly, the old template flips and the band and star are interacting. Even more interestingly, the band is breaking the fourth wall, interacting with the viewer to confound their expectations.

It's a brilliant play by directors Focus Creeps (Garbage, John Cale). Visually, it blurs the lines of reality and a psychotic break, giving a very cinematic view into the mind of a person who is just this side of very, very wrong.
