1 Dead, 5 Hospitalized On First Night of Electric Daisy Carnival

(Radio.com) Tragic news out of Las Vegas after the opening night of Electric Daisy Carnival 2014 as the EDM festival reports that one attendee has died and five more had to be hospitalized.

According to Las Vegas Review-Journal, 24-year-old Montgomery Tsang, of San Leandro, California, died at University Medical Center at 6:15 a.m. the morning of June 21. His cause of death has yet to be determined.

Insomniac Productions, which puts on the massive festival, issued the following statement via Kirvin Doak Communications. "Today we learned some very tragic news, that after attending the festival a guest of the show has passed away. We are deeply saddened by this news, and hope that everyone will join us in keeping his family and friends in their thoughts during this very difficult time. Dance music fans pride themselves in being part of a loving community and, as we get ready to start the second night of the show, we ask everyone to help us keep this event safe. One death is one too many, and we all must do our part to keep each other safe, healthy and happy, tonight and every night." read the statement from Insomniac spokeswoman Jennifer Forkish.

Five more people had to be hospitalized, out of the 249 people who required medical attention on site at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway, where the festival is being held. more on this story
