Kids Unravel As They Play a Weezer Cover at a Talent Show

(Radio.com) It's the middle school talent show. You've been practicing for weeks. "I can play the guitar," you've insisted. "Sure, maybe Guitar Hero," your detractors hem and haw. Privately you think of telling about how that reference is literally almost a decade old and the last game came in 2009, but you hold your tongue - they'll be sorry once they see you pummel their faces with some delicious rock music in the form of Rivers Cuomo and the rest of Weezer. But sometimes, things don't go exactly as planned.

A new video that surfaced earlier this week finds four students performing Weezer's 1994 hit "Undone (The Sweater Song)," featuring a drummer, bass guitarist, guitarist and keyboardist/singer. Is the keyboard essential to the song? Not necessarily in the original version of the song, but it ended up taking the starring role.

Shortly after launching into a wobbly rendition of the intro, the singer enters his moment of glory, throwing in a few notes on his keyboard for good measure. And then, well, watch them unravel.

But seriously, let's hope the only damage done is a little hit to their pride. The video has racked up over 170,000 views since going viral last week (June 19).

Though the band hasn't responded directly to the video on their Twitter, frontman Cuomo tweeted out the video, adding that he wanted to get the kid to perform with Weezer the next time they're near him. Watch it here.
