Duff McKagan, Scott Ian, Ripper Owens Added To Ronnie James Dio Event
. The special event will be both a listening party for the all-star "This Is Your Life: A Tribute To Ronnie James Dio" tribute album, a live concert and Awards Gala that will be taking place at Avalon in Hollywood, CA on March 17th. Organizers revealed that the event will feature live performances from Halestorm, Corey Taylor, Scott Ian, Duff McKagan, Simon Wright, Craig Goldy, Scott Warren, Oni Logan, Tim "Ripper" Owens, Bjorn Englen, Mike Orlando, Jimmy Bain, Rowan Robertson, Brian Tichy, and additional surprise guests. They also revealed that Judas Priest frontman Rob Halford will receive a special award during the event that is set to include a VIP Red Carpet featuring Lemmy, Rudy Sarzo, Frankie Banali, Vinny Appice and more. As we previously reported, the "This is Your Life" tribute album will be released on April 1st and will feature an all-star collection of hard rock and heavy metal artists paying tribute to the carrier of metal legend Ronnie James Dio. The collection covers tracks from Ronnie's career in Dio, Rainbow and Black Sabbath and features contributes from Metallica, Motorhead with Saxon's Biff Byford, Slipknot's Corey Taylor, Anthrax, Judas Priest frontman Rob Halford, Scorpions, Halestorm, Adrenaline Mob, Glenn Hughes, Killswitch Engage, some of Dio's former bandmates and more. The album was produced by Dio's wife and manager Wendy Dio and some of the money raised from the collection will towards the Ronnie James Dio Stand Up and Shout Cancer Fund. More details here.
