(Classic Rock) The Heavy Metal Truants charity bicycle ride to the Download festival will take place again this year - and Iron Maiden manager Rod Smallwood and Metal Hammer editor Alexander Milas hope to beat last year's total of 94,000 raised.

The 161-mile ride begins Alexandra Palace in London on Wednesday, June 11, and ends at Donington Park around midday on June 13. Smallwood says: "Metal fans like to get up off their backsides and do things - it's a very proactive tribe. People still need our help, and this is a great way to do it with an interesting and varied bunch of riders.

"We're all in it together, rough and smooth: whether you're a fan, band member, journalist, manager or otherwise involved in metal music. We ride together, eat together and drink together - it's a blast." more on this story
