(Radio.com) The xx has announced that they're hard at work on album number three down in Texas. Yes, Texas. The UK trio is leaving London, where they recorded their first two albums for the wide open spaces of Marfa, Texas, a tiny town that has gained much attention in the art world, thanks to large-scale installations from the likes of the late Donald Judd and Dan Flavin.

Band member Jamie xx revealed the band's Texas recording sessions during a recent guest slot on BBC Radio 6. He made the announcement after playing a song by Texas country singer Mickey Newbury, saying that the xx had been recording in Newbury's home state.

The band has also been revealing little details about the Texas sessions on their Facebook page, writing that they'd been recording "with our old friend Rodaidh McDonald at Marfa Recording Company," who mixed their last release, 2012′s Coexist. They also posted photos from around the town including a shot from a show at the Chinati Foundation, the contemporary art museum founded by Judd. more on this story
