Dave Grohl Pays Tribute To Late Gwar Frontman

(Radio.com) Dave Grohl may hang out with rock legends, and he's now a Rock and Roll Hall of Famer himself. But that's not to say he takes himself too seriously. Last week at the Foo Fighters' show at Richmond, Va.'s National Theatre (where they were performing to celebrate the town's "Foo Fighters Day" after a crowd funding campaign brought them there), Grohl spoke about seeing Richmond hometown heroes GWAR for the first time, and then recalled an interview with their late frontman Oderus Urungus (a.k.a. Dave Brockie) who died in March of this year.

He laughingly quoted Brockie, who, when asked about Grohl, gave a particularly brutal (and NSFW) answer: "'Dave Grohl, he's actually had his teeth removed so he could fit more GRAMMY d***s in his f***ing mouth.' So, right now, I give it up to Brockie!"

Naturally, GWAR responded in a very GWAR way. "I had every intention of going to Foo Fighters' show to kill Dave Grohl, but he said something really nice about Oderus," drummer JiZMak Da Gusha said. "I decided I'm going to spare his life this time."
