According to KTEN, on Sept. 19 Travis walked into a hangar at North Texas Regional Airport for the banquet, at which he performed at last year, with his fiancee, Mary Davis.

Davis spoke with reporters and updated them on Travis' road to recovery. "Every day we go to speech therapy and physical therapy and occupational therapy," she said.

"We're learning words and phrases, learning to sing, of course, the music and the songs come easy for him, just the enunciation of words. But he's working on it! He's got the heart of a warrior and he doesn't stop."
