(Radio.com) A Texas-based trooper has been reprimanded for, of all things, posing in a photo with Snoop Dogg. Billy Spears, part of the Department of Public Safety and based in Gilmer, Texas, was given a slap on the wrist from his superiors for taking the photo with the rapper, The Dallas Morning News reports. The pair met while in Austin for South By Southwest; Spears was called there to work and was in uniform at the time of the picture.

According to Ty Clevenger, Spears' attorney, the cop wasn't aware of who Snoop was-and that the rapper asked for the photo while in a secured area at the fest. Snoop's publicist took the photo, which was uploaded to his Instagram with the caption "Me n my deputy dogg."

But Department of Public Safety officials who saw the photo cited Spears for posing with a criminal; Snoop has been arrested multiple times, many of which have been for drug and/or weapon possession, including a 1993 murder charge of which he was later acquitted. The DPS decided that Spears needed counseling due to the incident. Read more here.
