Dr. Dre New Album Proceeds To Create Compton Youth Arts Center

(Radio.com) Dr. Dre shocked the world when he recently announced on his Beats 1 radio show that he scrapped his long-anticipated Detox album in favor of Compton: A Soundtrack, an album inspired by his work as co-producer of the upcoming Straight Outta Compton film.

But the album isn't the only surprise that Dre has up his sleeve. He has now announced that he will not be accepting the proceeds from the release for himself, but will be donating the money toward the creation of a new youth arts center in Compton.

'I feel it's the right thing to do and I hope everybody appreciates the work I put into this album," Dre said. (via Uproxx) Dre will be working with Compton Mayor Aja Brown and her office on the center, facilitating the hopeful emergence of more artistic talent like N.W.A. Read more here.
