Bob Dylan Giving New Album Away To Select Fans
. (Radio.com) If you're a member of AARP, that's now a bragging right--especially if you're a fan of Bob Dylan. The elusive songwriter gave his first interview in almost three years to the American Association of Retired Persons and he's also treating 50,000 of their members to his new album for gratis. As for which members will be lucky enough to receive it? A publicist for the magazine has confirmed to Wondering Sound that the selection process will be completely random. 'If it was up to me, I'd give you the records for nothing and you give them to every [reader of your] magazine," Dylan told the magazine. In his interview, Dylan added context to Shadows in the Night, his album of American standards previously recorded by Frank Sinatra, saying he was inspired to do it decades ago after hearing Willie Nelson's 1978 Stardust, a collection of tracks from the Great American Songbook.
