Young Thug and Metro Boomin Release Metro Thuggin Songs
. (Radio.com) Young Thug and Metro Boomin' teamed up last year for "The Blanguage," under the name Metro Thuggin, and teased a mixtape, but nothing materialized. Now, though, they've released two new songs: "Speed Racer" and "Warrior." The former is a short, fast-paced track with trance-y synths. Metro Thuggin' work so well as a duo because Boomin' understands Thug's need for space--his voice fills in the empty parts of the song with warbling trills and tossed off bits of lyrical genius, like the following: "my pockets got lumps and bumps, like I bought it from the swamp. "Warrior," meanwhile, is a six-minute long tour de force. The minor-key beat doesn't need to do much besides give Thug plenty of room to let his mind run free. Around the four minute mark Boomin's latent experimental tendencies emerge, and the track morphs into an odd, post-punk-ish stomp that must be heard to be believed. Thug and Metro Boomin are about to go on tour with Travi$ Scott, so chances are they'll finally have time to sit down and record that mixtape. Listen to the tracks here.
