Joan Sebastian Dead At 64

(Gibson) Prolific Mexican singer/songwriter Joan Sebastian has lost his battle with cancer. He was 64 years old. Sebastian's lengthy catalog includes 10 top 10 releases on Billboard's Top Latin Albums chart, including two No. 1s in 2001's En Vivo: Desde La Plaza El Progreso De Guadalajara and 2013's 13 Celebrando El 13. He also holds 22 chart-toppers on Billboard's Hot Latin Songs chart, including seven top 10s.

As a composer, Sebastian's songs have been recorded by some of the biggest names in Latin music, including Conjunto Primavera, Vicente and Alejandro Fernandez and Graciela Beltrán, to name just a few.

"I don't make up songs -- I live songs," Sebastian told Billboard. "My songs are a response to feelings, to what I've lived. … The important thing is that the songs be sincere, that they be truthful." Read more here.
