Carly Simon Reveals Man That Inspired 'You're So Vain' (Top Story)
. Simon has finally confirmed one of the likely candidates. The second verse of the song is about actor Warren Beatty, who was a notorious ladies man before settling down with actress Annette Benning in 1992. Carly's sudden revelation comes as she promotes her upcoming memoir Boys in the Trees. During an interview with People Magazine, Simon said, "I have confirmed that the second verse is Warren [Beatty]." Later she joked that although the song is about more than one man, Warren Beatty thinks the whole song is about him. But mystery remains, Beatty was not the only inspiration for the song.
