Green Day Frontman Slams MTV VMAs

Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong slammed the MTV Video Music Awards broadcast that took place on Sunday night for the network's snubbing of rock bands during the show.

Armstrong shared his disappointment online that the show didn't include any "young rock n roll" bands. Green Day was the last band that is considered rock to perform on the annual awards show when they took the VMA stage in 2012.

The outspoken frontman took to Twitter on Sunday night after the broadcast with the following messages, "just watched VMAs. seriously @MTV not a single young rock n roll band?"

He then added, "there r great up and coming rock bands headlining festivals AND on social media. what thee hell? - Billie Joe Armstrong (@BJAofficial) August 31, 2015."
