(Gibson) B.B. King may be gone, but he certainly won't be forgotten in Memphis, Tennessee. Wednesday 16 September would have been King's 90th birthday, and the city has renamed a street in the legendary bluesman's honor.

A portion of Third Street between Jackson Avenue and Crump Boulevard is now called B.B. King Boulevard. "We all know about his history, singing and guitars, born into a sharecropper's family on September 16, 1925 in Itta Bena, Mississippi," said Memphis Mayor A.C. Wharton. The move is one that is welcomed by the local music community and scene, which is also a huge tourism draw.

"You don't just hear the blues, you feel the blues and Memphis music," Silky O'Sullivan's owner Joellyn Sullivan told WMC Action News. Sullivan's is based at the corner of Beale Street and B.B. King Boulevard. Read more here.
