Metaspherical tell us about their single "Cloth Of Ought To" which features Kelly Shaefer (Atheist/Neurotica), Jason Morley (Metaspherical), Gene Hoglan (Testament/Dethklok/Dark Angel), Travis Morgan (ex-Atheist), Shawn Bowen (DidgesChrist Superdrum/Neurotica), and Andy LaRocque (King Diamond/Death). Here is the story:

In an ever changing industry plagued by mediocrity of content and increasing economic difficulties, metal music is in dire need of a revitalization. Metaspherical delivers this thoroughly by not only rejecting said difficulties, but forging a new path for musicians and their working methods alike.

The project began with the intention of showing how artists from around the world could play together despite occupying different countries or subgenres of metal. To do this, help was enlisted from some of the most accomplished names in metal worldwide. As of now, featured artists include former and present members from such bands as, Atheist, Cynic, Death, King Diamond, Origin, Steve Vai, Testament, Voivod, & Zimmer's Hole as well as some mind-blowingly talented lesser known artists. All these incredible contributors originate from or currently reside in a plethora of countries including Argentina, Australia, Canada, China, Cuba, India, Ireland, New Zealand, Portugal, Sweden, ,,,, , and the United States. Together, these musicians and artists bring aspects of many different subgenre's of metal to the table to assemble a much more enormous picture - a collection of music only worthy of a true brotherhood of metal.

From the words of Metaspherical's guitarist/creator Jason Morley, "the way that this first track came together for the global metal project was not something you could plan and truly took on its own destiny....... I was really wanting to get back into playing metal a few year after my head injury, but couldn't find the kind of musicians to play the music I was envisioning, in the small city that I live in. So....... I thought it would be a bit of a shot in the dark, but why don't I ask my friend Gene Hoglan(Dark Angel/Strapping Young Lad/Testament), whom I knew since being a teenager growing up in the metal scene around Vancouver, If he'd have time to record a bit of music with me. Gene was very booked up that summer, but had a couple days off from a recording session with Fear Factory in L.A. & went out of his way to fly to Vancouver & laid down some unreal drum tracks. A couple weeks after this, I randomly connected with a few members of the band "Atheist" through social media & we agreed to meet up in Edmonton when they were headlining a festival there. A real great relationship developed between myself and their lead singer Kelly Shaefer( Atheist/Neurotica), & a bit of time after this I came down to Sarasota, Florida & we worked on & recorded vocals for this track. Whilst there, I met an amazingly talented young bassist named Travis Morgan who was playing with Atheist at the time. We also developed a great friendship & he recorded bass for this 1st track & other things we've worked on @ his studio in New York. So The song still needed a killer lead to go with it & after a bit of time had past, I came across an internet ad for Sonic Train Studios in Sweden that Andy LaRocque(King Diamond/Death) operates. Me & Andy spoke back & forth through email a bit & the rest is history!..... I really hope you enjoy the song!!

Metaspherical and all the musicians involved are very proud to partner with Sweet Relief (sweetrelief.org) for this Global Metal Adventure! When the track is purchased, you are helping raise the money to complete a full-length Metaspherical album, and also, to help aid working musicians who are suffering with physical and mental disabilities.

Morley (who is also Metaspherical's producer) is the survivor of a very severe head injury, which required him to undergo seven brain surgeries and forced him to face some very serious challenges. One of these many challenges was struggling over a long period of time to physically build up dexterity in his hands, as well as having to re-teach himself many aspects of the guitar. Jason had previously studied classical guitar and played heavy metal on electric guitars (without a pick) for well over a decade prior to this accident.

This is just the beginning, as Metaspherical will be looking for many more artists, both known and unknown, to grow this into something much larger where we can give back and help others through the spirit of Heavy Metal.

So join us in casting off the chains of the old conventions and expectations. Join us in this incredibly diverse musical journey. Join us in our - in your - brotherhood of metal. This is Metaspherical.

Hearing is believing. Now that you know the story behind the song, listen for yourself as you check out the video here and learn more about the group right here!
