Extended Van Halen Super Bowl Commercial Goes Online
. The ad for the 2017 Acura NSX high-end sports car marks the first time that the California band has licensed the song for commercial use. Acura bills the new vehicle as the "only so-called supercar designed, developed and manufactured in the U.S." "Ultimately we knew that we wanted this to be a rock song," says Leila Cesario, the national advertising manager for American Honda's Acura division. "The Super Bowl is a big American platform. It needed a big American band that screams excitement." The commercial's soundtrack features the isolated vocal tracks of singer David Lee Roth along with instrumental segments of "Runnin' With The Devil", the second single issued from Van Halen's groundbreaking 1978 self-titled debut album.
