"I was paralyzed when I heard the news," said Jones. "For some reason I didn't ever think I would feel that way with someone's death, but with Bowie it just struck a chord.

"I like the fact that a lot of other people have responded the same way. It gives me some hope in humanity, that there are actually some people who appreciate culture and … not everybody is a bloody robot, you know?"

Jones went on to describe the era of early '70s "Ziggy mania" in Great Britain. "I was 16 or 17 at the most," he recalled. "You really hadn't seen anything like it, the look and the songs … Although I like 'Life on Mars,' The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and Aladdin Sane are the best albums ever.
