Lady Gaga, Sam Smith Among Best Original Song Oscar Nominees

(Radio.com) The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) announced nominations for the 88th Academy Awards. Among those nominees recognized for Best Original Song were familiar faces like Lady Gaga and the Weeknd, and Sam Smith.

The AMPAS selected these five nominees to compete for the big prize: "Simple Song #3" by David Lang (Youth) - "Until it Happens to You" by Lady Gaga (The Hunting Ground) - "Writing's on the Wall" by Sam Smith (Spectre) - "Earned It" by The Weeknd (50 Shades of Grey) and "Manta Ray" by J. Ralph & Antony (Racing Extinction)

Recent winners of the award include "Skyfall," Adele's signature track from the James Bond movie, "Let It Go" from Frozen. Last year, Common and John Legend won the prize for "Glory," which they contributed to Selma. See other music related nominees here.
