Iggy Pop and Josh Homme Perform New Single 'Gardenia' on TV
. Besides Pop on vocals and Homme on lead guitar, the duo were backed by keys, rhythm guitar, bass and drums. Dressed in black suits, the band exuded a debonaire attitude, which matched the laid-back song. "Gardenia" has a chill vibe about it replete with restrained guitar and drums on the verses. Before they performed, Pop and Homme joined Colbert on the couch to talk about working together. Pop admitted he sent Homme poetry via text message once they decided to write an album. "It's a wonderful way to get to know somebody," Homme replied. Homme talked about their recording process, which took place at Joshua Tree over two weeks. "It's easy to keep a secret when there's no one there to tell," Homme said. "When you make a record and no one's aware that you're doing it, you're kind of making it for each other. You're kind of there to excite and dazzle each other." The two joked about living together and bonding as roommates while they worked on the record. Pop even brought footie pajamas.
