Cyndi Lauper's Country Album Features Willie Nelson, Emmylou Harris
. Speaking about Detour's country theme, Lauper opened up about why she was drawn to a different style for her 11th album. "When I was a really young kid, country music was pop music, so this is what we grew up listening to," she said in the press release. "These songs are part of some of my earliest memories so it has been an absolute thrill to revisit them." Among the 12 tracks are two classic Patsy Cline numbers, "Walkin' After Midnight" and "I Fall To Pieces." Cline holds a special place in Lauper's heart. 'I spent a lot of time in my room singing with Patsy," she said. "I had to sing a Patsy Cline song-or two-because her voice was like one of my girlfriends. That's how close I felt to her."
