Frampton Comes Alive 40th Anniversary Celebrated In The Studio (Top Story)

On Wednesday Frampton Comes Alive 40th Anniversary Celebrated In The Studio was a top story. Here is the recap: (ITS) The latest episode of syndicated radio show In The Studio: The Stories Behind History's Greatest Rock Bands celebrates the 40th anniversary of Peter Frampton's mega live album "Frampton Comes Alive!" The show sent over the following details:

Peter Frampton's double concert album Frampton Comes Alive! released this week in 1976 was so phenomenally successful, and his resultant fame so widespread, that it is hard to remember a time when he wasn't a household name. Peter's departure from Humble Pie for a solo career was a bold move, but truth be told, after four solo albums without a hit, Frampton was not all that confident that his loyal record label could afford to be patient much longer. Recording some live concerts a few months after the release of his fourth studio album, Frampton in 1974, Peter was buying a little career insurance. If his studio album failed to sell he could always offer up a live stop gap album to release, which is relatively cheap to produce. Little did he know then that the album would be his career-defining, star-making, multi-million worldwide selling masterpiece.

"Show Me the Way", "Baby I Love Your Way", "Lines on My Face" and "Do You Feel Like We Do" dominated the radio airways and the album would spend an entire year on the US album chart, popping into the # 1 slot on four separate occasions.

Peter Frampton shares with InTheStudio host Redbeard his real concern leading up to the first night of recording of the live album. "This was the first time we ever headlined. That was the first night. You talk about being scared about the (mobile studio) truck? I was scared about going out in front. This was the first time we had played an hour and twenty minute set. From Humble Pie right inclusive of the reviews of the live record, everybody wanted me to make it." Stream the episode - here.
