Among those nominees recognized for Best Original Song were familiar faces like Lady Gaga and the Weeknd, and Sam Smith.

The AMPAS selected these five nominees to compete for the big prize: "Simple Song #3" by David Lang (Youth) - "Until it Happens to You" by Lady Gaga (The Hunting Ground) - "Writing's on the Wall" by Sam Smith (Spectre) - "Earned It" by The Weeknd (50 Shades of Grey) and "Manta Ray" by J. Ralph & Antony (Racing Extinction)
