Fergie Previews Her 'Hungry (1st Byte)' Video
.
(Radio.com) The world is getting closer to new music from Fergie. The singer has released a teaser clip of her upcoming music video "Hungry (1st Byte)." Like the brief snippets she teased on Instagram in May, the black and white video combines stark natural images (think doves and snakes) with a short-haired Fergie rapping. 'To say it's complicated, understatement of the year/ Well maybe conflict made it the new flavor in your ear/ They know that I'm a problem, that's why everybody scared/ Whatever doesn't kill you, can make you an ill-ionaire," she raps in the verse she released. The video differs from the playful fare Fergie has released in the past, and shows off a stronger aesthetic vision that in many ways reflects Beyonce's Lemonade. Although Fergie's not claiming any direct influences, it's difficult to watch "Hungry (1st Byte)" and not think about Bey's visually complex and rhythmically diverse HBO special. Between the rhythmic editing and the video's strong emotional quality, Fergie seems to have taken a page out of Beyonce's book. Watch "Hungry (1st Byte)" here.
