. At first it seems to be about a girl who has a crush on another woman - which is still taboo in some circles. But it turns out that the narrator is obsessing about another woman because of jealousy; the 'other" woman is with the man the narrator loves. The members of the band, and presumably, much of the audience, hadn't heard of jealousy referenced in quite that way, in a song, or otherwise.But the song has clearly resonated: 'Girl Crush" won two GRAMMYS: Best Country Duo/Group Performance and Best Country Song.
