(Radio.com) Bastille released the new video for "Send Them Off!" on Friday (September 30). In it, a young man explores a series of strange scenes, each one slightly more horrifying than the last.

Bastille loosely based "Send Them Off!" on Dante's Divine Comedy, which finds the author traveling through hell, purgatory and eventually paradise, but in the video the man at the heart of the action never seems to make it to that last place. Unless a rooftop counts as paradise. After what he experiences, it very well could.

The band itself seems to be stuck in purgatory, waiting in an abandoned old church and crossing path with the video's main character before he ventures even farther into different circles of hell. He comes across a darkened room where everyone sits wearing blindfolds, and races through that creepy setting only to enter a room on fire while couples kiss amid the flames.

Speaking with Radio.com about the song, Dan Smith said, "'Send Them Off!' I guess is a kind of, it's a song of irrational relationship jealousy told very dramatically by the language of Desdemona in Othello, which is such a famous, classic jealousy narrative, but using some of the imagery from The Exorcist." Given the horror movie that structured the song's lyrics, it makes sense that the band turned to a similar theme when making its music video. Check out the video here.
