Slipknot clearly dominated this year, pulling in a total of six nominations including the "Best Band in the World" award. Only two other artists have ever received six nominations. They were Korn and Marilyn Manson back in 1997.
Slipknot also broke a record for Road Runner Records this week. They are the first artist on the large independent's roster to ever go gold in the U.K. Their platinum selling debut album has achieved sales of over 100,000 copies in the U.K. earning them the gold for sales there.
The Kerrang! Awards debuted in 1994 and have been the barometer of who's hot and who's not in the British metal scene. This year's awards ceremony will be held at a secret London location next Tuesday and the winners will be annouced on the special KerrangAwards.com web site on Wed., Aug 30th.
