Official Press Release
Dave Navarro's Capitol Records Debut,
Trust No One, To Be Released June 19th
“Rexall,” the first single and video, relates to theme of Don’t Try This At Home, Navarro’s Regan Books publishing debut
Los Angeles, CA - Capitol Records President
& CEO, Andrew Slater, announced today that Jane’s Addiction founding
guitarist and former Red Hot Chili Peppers member Dave Navarro has signed
an exclusive recording contract with Capitol. Navarro’s explosive
debut solo album, Trust No One, marks the emergence of a major new artist
at Capitol. The album’s release coincides with the publication of
Navarro’s first book and news of long-awaited reunion shows with Jane’s
Addiction band mate Perry Farrell.
Filled with edgy reflections on life,
love, trust, and fear, Trust No One is scheduled for a June 19th in-store
date. Joining Navarro on the recording are Jon Brion and Matt Chamberlin
(Fiona Apple) and, on his cover of the Velvet Underground’s “Venus In Furs,”
Chili Pepper’s drummer Chad Smith and Roy Mayorga.
“Rexall,” the album’s first single, inspired by the photo-booth where Navarro’s parents met in the Rexall drugstore in Hollywood, is a ballad of the world-weary. The song sets the tone of the album in general—“the soul search of relationships, life and love, trust and fear.” The single goes to radio on May 18th and the accompanying video, lensed by Honey (Rage Against the Machine, Crazy Town), will debut on MTV at the beginning of June.
On July 2nd, two weeks after the album’s release, Navarro will make his publishing debut with Neil Strauss on Regan Books with Don’t Try This At Home, a volume entirely comprised of photographs taken over the course of a year in a drugstore photo-booth installed in Navarro’s home.
