Pantera and Static-X have both decided to cancel their participation in the Tattoo The Planet European tour. At press time Slayer has decided to carry on with the tour.  Below are excerpts from statements from the bands.

Statement from Pantera
12 September 2001

There are no words worthy to express the sorrow we feel for those who lost loved ones in yesterday's terrible tragedy.

We have made the decision to cancel our participation in the upcoming Tattoo the Planet" tour of Europe that was scheduled to begin tomorrow, Thursday, September 13.

We apologize to our international friends and fans that we planned on jamming and partying with, but there is absolutely nothing in the world worth compromising their safety or ours.

Statement from Static-X
September 13, 2001

We had a great time on our recent tour of Europe, May-June, with Slipknot. We were all looking forward to seeing our friends and fans there, and were excited about the prospect of touring with Pantera, Slayer, and Cradle of Filth. But we made the decision to cancel our participation in the "Tattoo The Planet" tour, scheduled to begin on Sept. 14.

The past four days have been spent making arrangements and accommodations to try to do this tour. We were all waiting to fly to Europe. Due to safety, financial and scheduling reasons culminating today, we made the decision to pull out of the tour. We look forward to coming back to Europe in the near future in support of MACHINE!

Slayer Statement
September 14, 2001

American Recordings group SLAYER will head to Europe early next week to belatedly kick off the Tattoo The Planet European tour on Tuesday, September 18 in Leuven, Belgium.  The tour originally co-headlined Slayer and Pantera, however Pantera has decided to cancel their participation due to this weeks WTC/Pentagon tragedy.  Slayer will be joined by StaticX, as well as local talent.

I understand Panteras decision, but I think wed be letting our European fans down if we cancelled the tour, said Slayers bassist/vocalist Tom Araya.  We all have families, and are concerned about the potential dangers.  But many kids in Europe have experienced attacks and assaults and terrorism throughout their lives, so I think Slayer should make the effort to go over there and play for them.  As a band, we simply refuse to play into the hands of these terrorists, we wont allow them to disrupt our lives any further.

Tattoo The Planet had been set to begin yesterday, Thursday, September 13 in Dublin, with subsequent dates in Birmingham (9/14), London (9/15), and then Glasgow (9/16).   This weeks devastating tragedy superceded those plans.  Slayer and StaticX have rescheduled the missed U.K. dates at the end of the European run.  The rescheduled Tattoo The Planet European tour dates are as follows:
