When Wes Scantlin included the "smack my ass lyric in the song "Control", some thought it was just a line in a song designed to sell CDs, but it seems to hold some truth after all. Puddle of Mudd frontman Wes Scantlin was arrested Sunday morning (3-10) on a highway near Piru, California and charged with domestic violence.
According to the Associated Press, witnesses called police after witnessing Scantlin and his fiancée Michelle Rubin arguing on the side of the road. The witnesses allege that Scantlin forced Rubin into a Jeep Cherokee being driven by an unidentified individual and the couple continued to argue in the Jeep as they drove off. Other motorist who witnessed the struggle called police and the Jeep was pulled over by officers on Highway 126. Scantlin and his fiancée Michelle Rubin who were reportedly on their way to a video shoot, were both charged with domestic violence related charges and released on $20,000 bail each and are scheduled to appear in court on March 15th, according to the Ventura County Sheriff's Department.
Sometimes life imitates art as this incident closely parallels the story line of the Puddle of Mudd video for control where Scantlin is shown arguing with a woman in a truck.
