It looks like Bass will not be on the spacecraft when it launches in October but me may be onboard a future flight. He reportedly returned to the Russian space training camp outside of Moscow on Saturday to resume training but Jam Music has quoted Yuri Nikiforov, general director of Atlas Airspace as saying, "He will not go in October for sure, but he just doesn't want to interrupt the program."
Jam also reported, Last week, Russian space agency spokesman Sergei Gorbunov did not deny Bass might return, but stressed that if he did he would not be training for the October flight or any other space mission.
The Russians scrapped the popstars October flight last month when he failed to come up with the $20 million dollars need to fund the trip. At that time the Russian space agency stated that the seat on the spacecraft would be filled with extra cargo, not Bass. (see story)
So it appears that Lance is once again
training for the hopeful mission and Pepsi might be helping to foot the
bill but neither the sponsorship nor his trip have been assured, at least
officially.. But money talks and it looks like Pepsi is willing to pay
up.
