SoCal rockers Joyous Wolf just released a music video for their new single "Runaway", the opening track to their new album "In Between". To celebrate we asked Blake Allard to tell us about the song. Here is the story:
We are extremely excited to announce the release of our new single "Runaway" off of our brand new, very first debut full-length record "In Between". Runaway was recorded the same way that all of the other songs for this record were recorded with the same goal in mind. Have a palpable energy dripping from this song like the listener is listening to the song being recorded. We had a blast being able to record the song live in order to make it truly feel like it was alive and be as exciting as possible.
Around COVID time, we locked ourselves in a rehearsal studio in order to put us in an environment where we could solely focus on songwriting and capturing the best bits and pieces of music ideas that came to us during that time. One of those tracks happened to be Runaway. The writing process for this song was initiated from a very primitive vocal idea, that was on-the-spot fleshed out into a full-on, in your face rock song. The song came together pretty quickly soon thereafter. We felt the energy from the first hook and knew there was potential to keep working out the kinks.
Before we knew it, we were testing the track out live and feeling like we had created a new energetic moment every time we played it. After more workshopping we were thankful enough to be able to record the song in the same manner it was written: 100% live. That has become an absolute staple to our songwriting process and something that we strive very hard to maintain. We all feel it's extremely important to nurture the raw, live elements of our music to the point where they lead to full on compositions and arrangements that can be experienced in a song like Runaway. We're so excited for everyone to hear what we were so thrilled to record.
Hearing is believing. Now that you know the story behind the song, listen and watch for yourself below and learn more here
