A Foreigner's Journey to Boston founder and frontman Brandon Miller is celebrating the iconic band Boston's 50th anniversary with his cover of their eternal hit "More Than A Feeling". To mark the occasion, we asked Brandon to tell us about the cover. Here is the story:
"More Than a Feeling" has been part of my life for as long as I can remember. Growing up, my dad worked out of state on pipelines, so he would be gone for long stretches at a time. Some of my favorite memories are of the mornings when he was finally back home. I'd wake up to the smell of him cooking bacon and eggs, and BOSTON's debut album would be playing through the house. That music became connected to the feeling of having my dad home and our family together. Even now, when I hear "More Than a Feeling," it takes me right back there.
As I got older and started finding my own path in music, the song took on an entirely different meaning. Brad Delp became one of the biggest vocal influences on me and one of the reasons I wanted to become a singer. There was something about the power, range and emotion in his voice that completely grabbed me. At the same time, I developed such an appreciation for Tom Scholz and what he created behind the scenes-the songwriting, guitar work, engineering, production and attention to detail. The more I learned about BOSTON, the more I understood just how much craftsmanship went into making those records sound the way they did.
After nearly two decades of making music myself, getting the opportunity to record "More Than a Feeling" felt like coming full circle. We worked with producer Kent Wells, and I knew from the beginning that if we were going to take on a song this iconic, we had to approach it with respect. You don't try to replace Brad Delp or recreate what BOSTON already did perfectly. For me, it was about honoring the song and the musicians who made me want to do this in the first place while still bringing everything I have as a vocalist and musician to the recording.
What makes the story even more meaningful is that Kimberley Dahme, the first female member of BOSTON, is now a member of A Foreigner's Journey to Boston. Kimberley actually toured with Brad Delp and Tom Scholz and was part of BOSTON's history. Having someone in our band who knew these musicians, performed this music and experienced part of that history firsthand gives all of this a meaning I never could have imagined when I was a kid listening to those records with my dad.
The craziest part is that we didn't set out to record this because of an anniversary. We were already working on "More Than a Feeling" when I realized that 2026 marked 50 years since BOSTON released their debut album in 1976. Suddenly, the timing gave the recording another layer of meaning. Fifty years after this music entered the world, I was getting the chance to honor a song that had been woven into my own life for decades.
To me, "More Than a Feeling" really is more than a song. It represents my dad, my childhood, the reason I fell in love with singing, the musicians who inspired me, and a career that has had plenty of highs, lows and moments when I wondered whether I should keep going. To be here now, singing this song 50 years later and sharing the stage with someone who was actually part of BOSTON's story, is something I don't take for granted. I hope when people hear our version, they think about the songs that have followed them through their own lives and the memories and people forever attached to them.
Hearing is believing. Now that you know the story behind the song, listen and watch for yourself below and learn more here
